Welcome to Our Classroom
Boozhoo! Welcome to Grade 3/4!
I’m Mr. Gabe, and I’m honored to guide your children through this important stage of their education. The Grade 3/4 years are a time of tremendous growth as students transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn” and develop more sophisticated thinking skills.
Our Classroom Community
In Grade 3/4, students take on more responsibility for their learning while still receiving the support they need. Our classroom operates on mutual respect and shared responsibility. Students help establish classroom norms at the beginning of the year, giving them ownership of their learning environment.
How Families Can Support Learning at Home
Every child grows at their own pace. This classroom is a safe place to build confidence, try new things, and celebrate progress—big and small.
Quick Tips for Families:
- Different paces are normal - Kids learn at their own speed, and that’s expected here
- Short routines beat long sessions - 10 minutes daily does more than an hour once a week
- Talking counts as learning - Conversations about ideas help just as much as worksheets
- Reading aloud together counts - Even for older kids!
- Ask your child to explain their thinking - This builds understanding
- Encouragement matters more than perfection - Progress over perfection, confidence before speed
- Some days are harder - And that’s completely normal
Learning Tools for Home:
Students can practice at home using these tools. Students know their logins for these programs:
- Lexia Core5 - Reading and language practice that adapts to your child’s level (lexiacore5.com)
- Symphony Math - Foundational math that builds understanding step-by-step
- Mathletics - Math practice to build confidence and fluency (mathletics.com)
Short, regular use is more helpful than long sessions.
I look forward to a wonderful year of learning together!
