Expectations & Communication

Student Expectations

As our senior students and role models, Grade 7/8 students are held to high standards:

  • Daily attendance is essential - Consistent attendance supports learning and models responsibility
  • Complete homework independently and on time - Developing time management and accountability
  • Actively engage in all classes - Participating fully in learning opportunities
  • Support younger students and events - Serving as mentors and leaders in our school community

Communication with Families

We believe in strong partnerships with families. You can expect:

  • Monthly newsletters with curriculum updates, important dates, and student achievements
  • Progress reports - Formal reports three times per year
  • Parent-teacher conferences - Scheduled meetings in fall and spring to discuss progress
  • Open communication - We’re available by email for questions, concerns, or updates

Parents as Partners - Together we build a circle of support. We encourage families to explore alternative learning strategies, discover transitional steps, share traditional knowledge and culture, ask questions with staff, and advocate for community supports and participation in teaching and services.

Looking Ahead

As your children prepare to leave our school and continue their education, we want them to carry with them:

  • Strong academic foundations for high school success
  • Deep pride in their Oji-Cree identity and cultural heritage
  • Confidence in their abilities and belief in their potential
  • A commitment to lifelong learning and growth
  • The values and teachings that guide our community

It is our honor to be part of this important year in your child’s life. We look forward to working together to support their journey.
